Anne Guiberteau, Le Pecq, France

This is terrific! Three entries, one after the other, from my friend Anne in Le Pecq.

They are collages made from multiple pieces of paper in layers.
 Do you have a favorite?

I do, but I'm not telling which one it is.

Anne is an active blogger.
She's working/playing on two blogs at the same time.

Ti Ar Raden, Aulnay-sous-bois, France

This is such a fun entry from Ti Ar. At first I didn't see the cyclist, and then I stepped back, AH, there it is. Don't you think that the postal services are doing a good job? Notice the placement of the stamp and the address. My address is, also, on the reverse for good measure. Thanks, Ti Ar, for participating.

You can see more of what Ti Ar does HERE.

Paul Amyes, Carlton, Tasmania

Two very interesting photographs with text arrived
from Tasmania.

They show a variety of bicycles and bicyclists.

The accompanying note from the photographer, Paul Amyes, indicates that he's a visual journalist, a writer and an artist.  Yes, indeed!

Thanks for the entries, Paul.

You can see more about what he does HERE.

Pálma Puskás, Budapest, Hungary

This card has so many bicycle related bits to it. Notice how the paper tape resembles tire tracks, even. At first, I thought the wheel to the right would spin, it's so lively. The little flag does move. Very cool. (Ah ha, the wheel was intended to spin!See comment below.)

Pálma writes that she bicycles to work, even in winter. She's not a racer but loves bicycling.

Thanks, and I hope I have the name right!

Pálma included this link on her entry, mailasmile.org.

Carina Granlund, Petsmo, Finland

I like the way participants are choosing stamps that fit the theme.

This one from Finland is especially lovely.

The way that the text is placed and obscured partially give such a good feeling of movement, right?

Nice collage, Carina. Thanks for participating.

Pedro Bericat, Zaragoza, Spain

What a surprise to receive an envelope from the USPS apologizing for the damage to a piece of mail. They so carefully put it in the envelope to protect it.

Love this!

Inside, an entry from Spain, It's quite a heavy, layered, collaged piece of Mail Art. There's lots to look at.

I'm amazed that this arrived at all, considering the placement of my address and the postage stamp. Both postal systems did a fine job.

Can you spot the little bicycles?

More about what Pedro creates can be found HERE.

Thanks, Pedro.

Phillip Lerche, Columbus, OH, USA

Phillip Lerche sent two envelopes made from very cool paper, and used very cool bicycle themed postage stamps.  Very cool!

Inside were copies of envelopes that he'd made for another site.
Phillip has a pseudonym that I actually know of him by - Finnbadger. See his blog HERE and
HERE is a link to the site to see more about these particular envelopes.

Thanks for continuing the lives of these pieces by sending them to my Mail Art Call, Phillip.

Daniel de Cullá, Burgos, Spain

"You saw stars!"

An amusing bicycle themed ink and pencil entry from Daniel de Cullá.

Thanks for sending Mail Art, Daniel.

Silvano Pertone, Genova, Italy

Interesting bicycle - no spokes! Can it be real? I think it is.

Silvano Pertone gives us a bit of a puzzle?

Thanks for submitting, Silvano.

Carmela Rizzuto, Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Balance

Carmela sent this large format ink drawing of a birds eye view of a bicycle. Quite nice!
She included a note apologizing for the size, but saying that she already had this ready. I'm sure that one of my venues will be happy to put this on view.

Thanks, Carmela.

Richard Baudet, Marseille, France

Mail from Richard Baudet is always addressed beautifully in a variety of calligraphy styles. On the reverse is my address printed clearly and it's got a French cancellation mark on it.
This side, with the actual postage stamp, but my address done in an Art Nouveau style, with my city spelled like a mountain, I love it, has a concellation on the stamp. I like thinking about how the postal person turned the card over to cancel both sides, that an actual person, not a machine, handled this to get it to me.

The miniature vintage bicycle posters are so nice. Don't you think so? Bicycle races have been popular for a long time!

Thank you Richard.

Wheeling Ice, Charlotte, NC, USA

This lovely, minimal watercolor bicycle came the other day.
I like it's minimal-ness. Title: "bicycle"

The sender signed with a cryptic title "Wheeling Ice" and a twitter account. I, however, do not tweet. I hope they'll check back and see that I've posted their entry.

Thanks for entering.

Lynn Britton Radford, New Brighton, PA, USA

For some reason, this scan does not do justice to the original piece of Mail Art. It's a lovely image, part of which Lynn is using as her Facebook header. I had liked it and was hoping she'd send it in as Mail Art and she did!

Lynn is a regular Mail Art maker. Her work can be seen HERE.

Thanks, Lynn.

Remember, you too, dear reader, can enter one or more pieces for this exhibit. Scroll down for entry information.

Send Bicycle related Mail Art for the exhibit!

From September 19 to 27, 2015, Richmond, Virginia, USA, will host an amazing event for bicyclists. The cyclists will come from all over the world. I'm very excited about this. The prediction is that we'll have 450,000 visitors to our small city during that time.  Read about it HERE.

So, what does a Mail Artist do? She starts a Mail Art call! I've enlisted two venues, so far, where work will be displayed in West Main Village  and Carytown near the routes or where visitors will circulate. I'd love to have lots and lots of Mail Art to exhibit.

I'll be posting entries on this blog, as they arrive in the post.
